Hi. This powerful display will be a revelation to some, reminder to
others. The photo's often fill the screen, but don't be concerned about
not being able to exit. The final panel says 'click on to exit.' Many thanks
to David McReynolds for passing it on. -Ed

John,
These are such horrendous and impressive photos, taken before the war had touched Germany. I'm thinking
of which list to send them to and I think I'll send them to the EdgeLeft list, which has not heard from me in a
while.
How hard it is, still, to realize the world (and the Germans) let these people come to power (Hitler came
to power with significant backing from Wall Street, and the support of part of the British Royal Family).
These photos show events before the tens of millions had died, and the cities of Europe reduce to ruin.
Looking at the vast events in Nuremburg, I remember being taken on a tour of those concrete bleachers
by a young German pacifist when I was in that city. All was empty and silent, only those bleachers remained.
David

These pictures were taken by a Life photographer between 1939 and1940 in Berlin and were lost for over 50 years because the Americanphotographer disappeared at the beginning of the war, along with his Rolliflex camera.Shown here are the originals (Used at that time in the productionof magazines). The majority are 6" X 9". They were found by a nursein a Berlin hospital , who kept them put away during all these years..After her death her daughter returned them to the current editors, whoretain the copyrights to Life magazine, which has not beenpublished since the early '70s.
