Get Lit at the Actors' Gang!!!, A model Letter, The Pat Tillman Story

Date: Monday, April 23rd 7 to 8:30 PM
Subject: GET LIT PLAYERS perform at the ACTORS' GANG!!!

Hi Everyone!

We hope that you are having a fabulous summer!  We have enjoyed a nice month off after all of the July craziness which included our Get Lit Fundraiser and Brave New Voices! Thank you to everyone who took part!!

Now we're back with a very special show this coming Monday night, April 23rd at the Actors' Gang.  It begins at 7 PM and will go until about 8:30.  The Get Lit Players will be featured at the Actors' Gang the 3rd Monday of every month, so look for future invitations to events.

Each month, we will be performing classic and original spoken word poetry about a certain topic (chosen by the Actors' Gang.) This month's theme is 'The Environment.' This includes the environments of our home, family, city and earth. Listen as our genius young poets/thinkers/scholars weigh in on this subject and entertain us while doing so!

ALSO – Get Lit is starting a brand new year of FREE classes which take place on Saturday and are OPEN to all teenagers 13-19.  For more information about these classes please email me at diane@getlit.org.  IN ADDITION - we are looking for new GET LIT PLAYERS!  If you have any outstanding poets/writers/performers/rappers please send them this flyer and encourage them to come to this show!  In addition to seeing a great show, they will get the chance to get up on stage and perform in an open mic at the end.

ANYWAY...2010-2011... HERE WE COME!!!!!!!!!
Here's to an outstanding school year and to all of the magic that we can create together.

My very best,

LETTER TO LA & NY TIMES   (similar to letters sent to NY Times August 16 & 20)

RE: "In the region, skepticism abounds," August 21 and

RE: "Two sides accept U.S. invitation," August 21 and    (for LA Times)

RE: "In Mideast Talks, Scant Hopes From the Beginning," August 21 and    (for NY Times)

The Obama Administration has pushed Palestinian President Abbas into a trap by siding with Israel that direct peace talks start with no preconditions.  Abbas' attempts to get the talks to start where previous talks left off were rejected by the U.S.  The coming headlines are obvious – Netanyahu makes unacceptable offer; Abbas turns offer down and make counter-offer; Netanyahu turns down counter-offer; talks fail; Abbas blamed.

Now that the talks are about to resume, Obama, Secretary of State Clinton, and envoy Mitchell are duty bound to protect Abbas and not allow Israel's trap to snap shut.  That will be easy – before either side makes an unacceptable offer, the Obama Administration must set out fair and just guidelines as the basis for the talks.

Subject: The Tillman Story: A must see!

Saw the "The Tillman Story" last night. Excellent! Support the film and see this weekend!

In the News: Mother of Pat Tillman, Michael Moore, speak out about Gen. McChrystal's appointment to teach at Yale www.nydailynews.com
The mother of Pat Tillman and filmmaker Michael Moore have something to say about Yale Universitys hiring of Gen. Stanley McChrystal.

THE TILLMAN STORY

Pat Tillman never thought of himself as a hero. His choice to leave a multimillion-dollar football contract and join the military wasn't done for any reason other than he felt it was the right thing to do. The fact that the military manipulated his tragic death in the line of duty into a propaganda tool is unfathomable and thoroughly explored in Amir Bar-Lev's riveting and enraging documentary.
